Springdale Water Gardens began in 1988 with a dream of four people and the purchase of an old run-down farm property. Springdale Water Gardens is the largest water garden center in Virginia and one of the few surviving aquatic plant nurseries in the United States from that era.

We grow almost all of our own waterlilies, bog plants and lotus here on our property at the “end of the road” in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.  Comprised of four 20 x 100 greenhouses growing aquatic plants,  multiple outdoor production tanks,  a 3000 gallon fish holding facility and a refurbished 19th century barn full of pond supplies and gifts, we offer everything one could desire for building a water garden,  fountain or just a small “puddle pond”.  Hundreds of varieties of plants are found growing here.

Our 5 plus acres features older production ponds that are now wonderful habitat for birds, frogs, turtles, snakes and the visiting four legged friends such as deer, bear, racoons, otters, red fox, mink, muskrat and untold other visitors.

Founded by Keith and Tish Folsom and Sherman and Linda Reeder.  We dug out ponds and constructed infrastructure to grow aquatic plants with the goal of selling wholesale.  Our old barn soon contained an inner room in the hay loft to house pond supplies and the original special use permit for a small addition to the front of the house for retail was abandoned.    We never looked back as word of mouth sent folks looking for us and the barn soon became our retail store along with the bats that inhabited the roof line.  Wanting to keep the authentic feel of the barn, we restored the interior with old barn siding for walls and kept the original plank barn floor.
